In order to create awareness about cancer, health and fitness, Gem Foundation, Coimbatore will be organizing Coimbatore Women's Marathon (which will be a night run) at V.O.C. Grounds in the city on February 25, 2023 from 6 p.m.

Dr.C.Palanivelu, Managing Trustee of Gem Foundation announced this at a press conference on Thursday.

 

He said that Gem Foundation has done 85 free cancer surgeries to poor patients in the recent few years with the support of Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis, and the foundation wishes to not limit its activities to just cancer treatment but also take measures to create massive cancer awareness in Coimbatore.

 

Hence, it will organize Women's Marathon and Women's Carnival on Feb 25th, and it will henceforth be an annual event.

 

The marathon is divided into 3km, 5km and 10.4 km. for women while a special run will also be made available for kids between the ages 7 and 14, at VOC Grounds. Around 10,000 women runners are expected to participate in the marathon.

 

Registrations could be made via www.coimbatorewomensmarathon.com from today. Rs. 500 will be the registration fee.

 

On the other hand, the Women's Carnival will take place at VOC Grounds on the same day from 4.30 p.m. to 11 p.m. exclusively for women, and it will have several traditional and cultural events by different associations on a slot basis.
