Several Industrialists, Educational Institutions runners and Philanthropists of Coimbatore District have come together to form Kavasam Foundation through which they will render support to the victims of various crimes, abuses and road accidents.

 

This project is the brain child of Coimbatore City Commissioner V.Balakrishnan IPS.

 

Ravi Sam, MD, Adwaith Lakshmi Industries serves as the Chairman of the Foundation.

 

Police Commissioner V.Balakrishnan IPS said that through the foundation, the needed support to the victims' families including financial, job, educational and psychological support will be provided.

 

He added that the focus of this initiative is to ensure that victims' families are supported, and they don't turn hostile and try to seek revenge. Another aim is to  ensure that victims report crimes, therby leading to more conviction.

 

District Collector Dr.G.S.Sameeran appreciated the philanthropic nature of Coimbatore city, and also said that he will support to take this model to other parts of the State as requested by the Chairman of Kavasam Foundation Mr.Ravi Sam.

 

At the event, Rs.10 lakh worth of benefits were given to 25 victims' families.

 

 L.Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee of PSG&Sons' Charities assured to support 100 children from the victims family needing educational support through PSG Maanavar Illam.

 

V.Lakshminarayanasamy of Suguna Group announced that their Suguna Group of Educational Institutions will offer free Educational support to victims' families.

 

Malarvizhi, Chairperson, Sri Krishna Institutions said that all accomplished citizens of Covai can support in many ways to this humanitarian project.
