Six persons were killed and five others injured when their van collided head-on with an omnibus in Attur in Salem district today.

The inmates of the van from Moolavadi in Attur, going to attend a funeral scheduled for this morning in Salem. When the vehicle which reached a flyover collided head-on with a private omnibus coming from the opposite side around midnight.

Under the impact, six persons, including five women, died on the spot, while five others sustained injuries, of which one was said to be critical. The dead were identified as Rajesh, A. Ramya, S. Saranya, S. Suganya, M. Santhiya and 1-year old S.Dhanshika.

The injured were admitted to the Salem Government hospital and a case was registered and investigations are on.
