Wedding of Coimbatore-based couple, Swarna Prabha and Vikram, took place in Ram Nagar on Wednesday (31.5.23), and the couple have received a total of 1,600 books as wedding gifts. The reason behind this is the father of the bride!

Mr.Jawahar Subramaniam printed his daughter's wedding invitation with an appeal to the friends and family that instead of giving money or materials as wedding gifts, they can handover books that can benefit 10th and +2 students as presents to the couple.

Paying heed to his wish, 400 visitors to the wedding donated a book each and 1200 books from friends and family came by post. 

These include 10th and +2 syllabus books, books for preparing competency exams, grammar, history and poetry. 

Mr.Jawahar is in plans to get the District Collector's permission to distribute these books to students coming from tribal settlements in Anaikatti and Valparai.

Recently, another father of the bride working as DSP in Coimbatore made the headlines for inviting religious leaders belonging to Hindu, Muslim and Christian faiths in order to highlight the importance of religious harmony.
