A five-year-old male elephant was found dead on an electric fence of private farmland in Mangrove in Gudalur in the Nilgiris
district today.


The villagers, who noticed the body, alerted the forest department officials, who rushed to the spot. The officials, with the assistance of the Electricity Board officials, are carrying out inquiries.
