Several tech companies are concentrating on Tier 2 cities like Coimbatore to recruit fresh talents and set up their offices. This is due to the availability of talents and affordable real estate facilities in these regions.


For instance, Birlasoft inaugurated its delivery center with a seating capacity of 250 in March this year. IT Firm Happiest Minds opened its center here this year. Popular IT Company Tech Mahindra has said that it is hiring new talents from new areas and setting up new centers in tier 2 cities including Coimbatore as it helps to diversify their talent pool.


According to Abhishek Sinha, COO, L&T Technology Services, the tier II urban landscape like Coimbatore is defining the next frontiers of growth.


Real estate cost benefits in tier 2 and small cities attract tech giants here. For instance, the real estate cost benefits here are 35% lower in comparison to major IT Hubs.


Coimbatore's average rental rate, according to local rela estate brokers, for office space is Rs. 55-70 per sq.ft. per month.


Forums focusing on Coimbatore's development have emphasized that the Tech City project in Coimbatore should be initiated ASAP & the vacant land in the ELCOT SEZ should be utilised as various firms are looking for setting up their new offices & expansions in Covai.
