In order to increase the green cover of Coimbatore, an eco-organization named Kaanagam recently announced its plans to plant great number of saplings in the city. 


Coimbatore-based Tanny Shelters, which is known for constructing several residential and commercial construction projects in the district recently launched a social welfare organization called Seyon Charitable Trust.


Under this charitable trust, an organization called Kaanagam has been formed by Tanny Shelters' Managing Director Sivaraman Kandhasamy.



Perur Adheenam Santhalinga Marudhaachala Adigalar and Siravai Adheenam Kumaragurubara Swamigal launched Seyon Charitable Trust, and Sivaraman Kandhasamy received the first sapling from them.


As a part of its initial activities, the members of Kaanagam are in plans to first plant around 25,000 saplings soon.  Sivaraman Kandhasamy reportedly said that the public can also get saplings from the organization and plant the saplings in their houses, and contribute in this mission to increase the green cover.
