The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology (SRIT), Coimbatore, in association with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) SRIT Student Section, is organizing the 4th edition of the National Level Electric Bike Design Challenge (EBDC) at SRIT campus from September 24 to September 27, 2024.
The competition aims to inspire students from across India to design and develop innovative electric bikes that push the boundaries of sustainable transportation.
This year, 13 enthusiastic teams from various parts of the country competed in the challenge. They showcased their creativity, engineering skills, and passion for eco-friendly mobility. Participants of this event were judged based on several criteria, including the Creativity and practicality in electric bike design; Speed, endurance, and technical excellence during dynamic testing and Eco-friendliness & cost-effectiveness of their bike prototypes.
The award ceremony was held recently at the SRIT Open Air Auditorium. It was presided over by R. Sundar, Joint Managing Trustee of SNR Sons Charitable Trust. N. R. Alamelu, Director of Academics at SNR Sons Charitable Trust and Subash Pilla, Founder and CEO of Imagine to Innovate, Vizag also attended the ceremony.
The overall championship was secured by the Falcon Racers from RVR & JC College of Engineering, Guntur. They received a cash prize of Rs.50,000 and a tour package to Wonderla, Cochin.
Team MV Tronics from Hindustan College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore was declared the runner-up. They received a cash prize of Rs. 25,000. An all-women team from St. Joseph College of Engineering, Chennai, received the Best Women Driver and Best Women Captain awards, along with several other exciting awards for participants.
