TNAU organizes Expert Lecture on Smart Systems for Agriculture

Department of Renewable Energy Engineering, Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute (AEC & RI), TNAU, Coimbatore organized an expert lecture on Smart Systems for Agriculture from 15th - 19th July 2025 as part of SPARC - GoI, India & UKIERI-British Council, UK supported exchange program.
Prof. Micheal Short, Professor of Control Engineering and System Informatics, SECDT, Centre for Sustainable Engineering at Teesside University, UK delivered the lecture.
He began his talk by introducing automated control systems and AI-assisted control systems. He emphasized the concept of Industrial Informatics: Industry 4.0, where infrastructure digitalization, big data, and AI converge to drive the fourth industrial revolution.
In his technical address, he covered topics such as single-loop digital control for managing irrigation parameters, real-time computation systems, sampled data systems, and signal reconstruction techniques.
The lecture served as an eye-opener for the students to explore the integration of AI and control systems in their academic projects and research endeavors. Also, he handled MathWorks Simulink practical lab for an industrial case pump control system.
