The International Conference on Environmental Sustainability (ICES 2025), organized by the Department of Environmental Sciences, Directorate of Natural Resource Management (DNRM), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), concluded on Thursday with 10 key recommendations aimed at strengthening research and policy initiatives for environmental sustainability.

 

The three-day event brought together researchers, academicians, policymakers, and industry experts from across the globe to deliberate on pressing environmental challenges.

 

P. Balasubramaniam, Director, DNRM, TNAU, highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts in addressing environmental concerns. Session chairs presented technical reports summarizing discussions across six thematic areas.

 

During the event, Hameed Sulaiman Lebbai, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, was felicitated for his contributions to environmental research.

 

In his presidential address, R. Thamizh Vendan, Registrar, TNAU, stressed the need for interdisciplinary research and the role of educational institutions in driving sustainable solutions.

 

Delivering the valedictory address, S.P. Anandh Kumar, Special Secretary, Sports and Youth Services, Government of Punjab, underscored the urgency of sustainable policies and initiatives to mitigate environmental challenges.

 

Awards and certificates were presented to participants for their contributions. The conference concluded with reflections from attendees on the discussions and collaborations facilitated during the sessions.

 

The 10 key recommendations formulated during the conference identified priority research areas and critical policy interventions required to ensure environmental sustainability.
