Minister Senthil Balaji inaugurates 24 new ultra low-floor buses in Coimbatore!

Tamil Nadu EB Minister Senthil Balaji, who is also the Minister in-charge of Coimbatore, inaugurated 24 new ultra low-floor buses today at Karumathampatti Bus Depot along with Coimbatore Collector Kranthi Kumar Padi and Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran.
These Ultra Low Floor buses will have ramps for easy boarding and alighting by wheelchair users. The boarding steps in these buses will be at a height of 400 mm, so it would be easier for the elderly passengers to board and deboard the buses. They are also equipped with speakers and LED display boards to announce the arrival of a stoppage priorly.
These new buses in TNSTC-Coimbatore will operate on Gandhipuram - Somanur, Annur, Karamadai; Gandhipuram - Walayar, Velanthavalam and Gandhipuram - Thudiyalur via Saravanampatti routes, as per sources. This is just 24 of the 100 such ultra low floor buses that have been alloted to Coimbatore. The rest will be introduced in a phased-manner and they will cover different routes.
