Andreas Moser, EVP Industrial Technologies, ZF Group stated,“In India, the construction industry is upbeat about the market potential with rapid urbanization and the push for infrastructural connectivity, which the country is witnessing.

The industrialization of the ERGOPOWER transmission and MULTITRAC axle series at ZF Coimbatore plant will contribute to that development. This will help the plant to cater its production to domestic and export requirements. The new plant in Coimbatore together with the main hub in Germany will support the production capacity needed for the future market growth in the global construction equipment market.

The Off-Highway plant will support ZF’s growth in India, supplying world class technology to domestic and global OEMs. To support the growing construction segment and OEM demand, the ERGOPOWER M transmission. is industrialized in this site. This automatic-powershift transmission has been optimized for all kind of construction machinery  applications and is considered a benchmark in the market for its performance and quality. With a variety of features as well as an optional efficiency package, the transmission can increase productivity and fuel savings of up to 15%.

The Axles localized at the Coimbatore plant are part of the MULTITRAC series. These axles are designed for utterly uncompromising heavy-duty work of construction machinery. Despite its high strength and torque capacity, the axle is compact and light. Various ratios and numerous brake and differential lock options are available for the modular axle product range. Utilizing wheel speed wet multi-disc brakes reduces braking losses and thus improves efficiency.

In the new manufacturing plant, ZF will also localize the production of its EcoMet transmission for the Indian railway market. With EcoMet, ZF is setting new standards in performance, flexibility and cost-effectiveness of metro gearboxes. Thanks to its modular design, the gearbox is suitable for a wide variety of metro types, depending on customer requirements, without it being necessary to incur additional development and manufacturing costs.

For over a century, ZF has expanded its position as a supplier of railway technology and today has an impressive portfolio that includes driveline and chassis solutions as well as a comprehensive digital offering, connect@rail. Localization in India is the next logical step of ZF's “local for local” strategy, following the company's strong presence in the rail markets of Europe, North America and China.

ZF Group’s investment into building a world class manufacturing site, serves ZF’s philosophy of focus on emerging markets and growing with the customers. This plant plays an important role in the localization and close to customer approach for ZF Group while addressing local demand and catering to the global requirements.
