CII- Coimbatore has come up with a mega initiative 'Coimbatore NXT' to usher tremendous growth in the city by improving its industries and business capabilities and nurturing the start-up ecosystem.

It was launched on Monday (Sept.12) at Hotel Le Meridien by Suchitra Ella, Chairman- CII Southern Region, Joint Managing Director, Bharat Biotech In; Kamal Bali, Deputy Chairman, CII Southern Region, President and Managing Director, Volvo Group India and Ramesh Babu, MD, CEO, Karur Vysya Bank.

Coimbatore NXT is a multi-year intiative prepared by CII Coimbatore Chapter, which is supported by visionary entrepreneurs who are a part of the Steering Committee.

S.Prashanth, Chairman, CII Coimbatore, who is one of the brains behind this initiative said "Coimbatore NXT is all about reimagining the economic potential of this region and to make it one of Asia's fastest growing economies through inclusivity and sustainable growth"

Through this initiative, existing business in Covai (which are part of Coimbatore NXT intiative) will be given guidance and support to expand their business-levels, and set foot in the global markets.

Growth strategy will be formulated for the traditional industries that wish to scale up their businesses, and they will also be helped to patent their intellectual properties and also set foot in the digital era of business.

It will also focus on enabling and easing the experience of entering new and emerging businesses for the new age entrepreneurs.

Coimbatore NXT will also reach out to the stake holders in the Government and share/stress them about the policies needed for development with regards to infrastructure. 

To help this city attract investmens, Coimbatore NXT will reach out to the best places in the world to come and invest in Covai.

With this initiative reaching its aimed target, the job opportunities will grow more than twice than what it is today, and it will also help the city and the district contribute more to the GDP.

Once Coimbatore NXT delivers what it aspired to, it will be made openly available for all industries of this city. 

Prashanth Subramaniam, Chairman, CII Coimbatore said that while Coimbatore contributes 13% of Tamil Nadu's GDP, by enhancing the industries of this region through Coimbatore NXT, the city can contribute even greater to the ambitious $1 Trillion Economy goal of Tamil Nadu Government.

Suchitra Ella, Chairman- CII Southern Region, Joint Managing Director, Bharat Biotech In said "the pedestal for Coimbatore is stunning. I don't think many cities in this country has this kind of pedestal".

She said Coimbatore is a city of entrepreneurship and legacy, and it has Entrepreneurship, Passion , Innovation and Vision. What it should do is leapfrog, connect with R&D institutes, be innovative and provide best skill sets to its students and workforce.

Dr.Sameeran called Coimbatore NXT, a bold step by CII, and a right initiative at the right time.

He said, the City's scope and potential needs to redefined, and also reimagine where Coimbatore could be when India reaches its 100th year of Independence.
