The Highways Department has asked the builder of the 10.01 km long Avinashi Road flyover project to complete the works before the end of May 2024.

The 4-lane flyover starts from Uppilipalayam near the police quarters and ends at the Goldwins near the KMCH. KNR Construction Ltd. which is building the flyover, started the construction work on December 2020. As of now, the builder has completed 6-km of the project, and the remaining 4 km is underway.

99% of the works related to pillars are over, while works related to the deck-slabs are ongoing. Reports state that 120 concrete deck slabs need to be fixed in the coming days.

Additional land is to be acquired on both sides of Avinashi Road for laying the service road , building ramps, etc., and that government has undertaken that task. The ramps will be built near Anna Statue, Nava India, Hopes College and Airport Road Junction.

Once the project gets over and becomes operational, it could reduce the traffic congestion taking place at the Avinashi road significantly.
