There is a Kirloskar Brothers plant in Coimbatore that is completely run by Women; this shows the women empowerment of the State (of Tamil Nadu). In Women Studies, women leadership and women empowerment, Tamil Nadu is more ahead of the rest of the country, expressed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan here on Saturday.
The minister said this while delivering the convocation address at the 34th Annual Convocation of Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women (Deemed to be University) here.
The event was held in the presence of University Chancellor Prof. S.P.Thyagarajan.
A total number of 2,703 candidates from all disciplines will be conferred their degrees, including 52 Ph.D. Scholars and 2,066 undergraduates soon.
The Union Education Minister in his address said that in Kancheepuram District, there are novel inscriptions that testify the historical fact that for more than 1,100 years ago, India had an elaborate and highly refined electoral system and even a written constitution prescribing the mode of election.
"India is the Mother of Democracy and Tamil Nadu is the Epicenter," he said.
