For quite some time, Coimbatore city folks, especially flight passengers heading to & from Coimbatore International Airport, during late hours and night travellers have often expressed disappointment over unavailability of a restaurant or a cafe that can serve food at those hours. The city lacked a round the clock food joint till now.

Thanks to Haribhavanam Restaurants, Coimbatore now has its first 24-hour café and it is called Terminal 2, a multi-cuisine, veg & non-veg, one of a kind cafeteria at Avinashi Road. It was launched on Monday.

Speaking about the Cafe, Mr. Balachandar Raju, Managing Director of Haribhavanam Restaurants India Pvt. Ltd., said, Terminal 2 is an airport-themed café located on Avinashi Road, just a kilometre away from Coimbatore International Airport. It’s positioned adjacent to Haribhavanam restaurant near SITRA.

Spread across nearly 5,000 sq. ft., Terminal 2 is designed to resemble an airport terminal. While the theme draws inspiration from airport interiors, the decor is subtle and elegant. The café can accommodate up to 100 guests, with comfortable seating available both indoors and outdoors.

Adding to its unique concept, the cafe doesn’t use table numbers. Instead, each table is named after an international city.
So, when customers place an order, their table is identified by destination—enhancing the airport experience.

“From South Indian staples like vada, bonda, bajji, and filter coffee to an array of global favourites such as burgers, sandwiches, pasta, ramen, sizzlers, and salads—our menu has it all. Local specialties like Palaya Soru with Karuvad, Kamman Kool, Arisi Paruppu Sadham, and Biryani are also served, all prepared in-house with utmost care.”

For health-conscious patrons and early risers, the menu features protein shakes, ABC juice, arugampul (bermuda grass) juice, and amla juice. For those who love to enjoy non-vegetarian dishes, we serve dishes like Idly with Kudal Kulambu, Uthappam with Nattukozhi, and more from as early as 7 a.m.

“Our goal is to ensure great food is accessible at all times—especially for those handling emergencies at nearby hospitals, arriving on late-night flights, or working night shifts in surrounding IT parks,” Mr. Balachandar added.

To enhance customer convenience, the café features self-ordering kiosks—interactive touchscreen devices that allow guests to browse the menu, customise items (like sugar and ice levels in a mojito), and complete payment via QR code—without any staff interaction. This system is particularly helpful during late-night hours.

“There could probably be no other place in the city where you can get both Pizza and Palaya Soru under one roof, and that’s what sets us apart,” he said.

Ms. Harini Balachandar, Director of Haribhavanam Restaurants and a Food Science undergraduate at Pennsylvania State University, USA, shared that the café also offers a wide selection of pastries in unique flavours, which are expected to be a big hit among youngsters.

“At the same time, we’ve included dishes like Rasam Sadham, Ragi Kali, and Arisi Paruppu Sadham for the older generation. Terminal 2 is designed to cater to all age groups, and it will truly be a go-to destination for the entire family,” she said.
