The spirit of sportsmanship and social impact came alive today as the 3rd RCC Nathan Memorial Trophy, a prestigious interschool 5-a-side football tournament, kicked off at Vivekam Senior Secondary School, Saravanampatti.

Organized by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore City in association with the host school, the tournament is not just about football—it champions a greater cause: promoting Girl Child Education through youth engagement in sports.

This annual event is held in loving memory of the late father of Rtn. Justin, serving as a heartfelt tribute to his values of community service and youth empowerment.

This year’s edition has broken records with an overwhelming participation of 196 boys’ teams across four age categories—Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18—and an impressive 29 girls’ teams competing in the Under-14 category.

The tournament was officially kicked off by Assistant Governor of Rotary District 3206, Rtn. Dr. N. Senthilkumar, setting the tone for an inspiring and competitive series of matches.

The inauguration ceremony was further graced by Chief Guest Rtn. PP. MD. S.G. Swaminathan, Youth Service Chairman (2025–2026), and Guest of Honour Mrs. Udaya P.S. Menon, Advocate, Supreme Court of India. Mrs. A. Lily Princy, Principal of Vivekam Sr. Sec. School, extended a warm welcome to all attendees.

In his keynote, Rtn. Swaminathan emphasized the deeper purpose of the tournament: “This tournament is more than just competition—it’s a celebration of youth, values, and empowerment. Sports cultivate discipline, leadership, and inclusivity.”

The tournament is made possible with generous support from Sniper Solutions, Royal Care Hospitals, Star, Raghavi Automotive, Borosil, Hartha eShoppe, VJoyce, CrescereMed, Santhosh Holidays, and PhotoBoys—showcasing the community’s collective commitment to nurturing young talent and education.

With electric matches, spirited teams, and a cause that resonates beyond the field, the RCC Nathan Memorial Trophy has firmly established itself as a landmark interschool sporting event in Coimbatore.
