78% of the Avinashi Road Flyover project is now over according to the State Highways Department. The four-lane flyover starts from the Uppilipalayam Road signal and ends at Goldwins near the KMCH Institute of Health Sciences and Research.

The NH wing of the State Highways Department is working on this 10.1 km flyover project. According to reports, officials are now planning to finish 5 of the 8 up/down ramps at Anna Statue, Nava India, Hope College, fix the very few remaining deck slabs and complete the main track by the end of this December. They are planning to finish the other 3 ramps by March 2025.

Setting up the rainwater drains, parapet walls, laying tar roads, installing center median, light poles, a foot-over bridge with lift and other works are expected to go on at least till June 2025. It may even take some more time.

Since a rail-over bridge is already present near Hopes College, the officials are linking the gap between the flyover portion of this area and the other side via composite girders. It will be 52 meters long and will connect the two points.

The structure is getting ready at a factory in Hyderabad. The Highways Department officials are in plans to fix the structure in the first week of November 2024.

There are plans to build 5 foot-over bridges with elevator facilities under the flyover to facilitate safer and easier road crossing for pedestrians. Sources shared that the officials will first set up one such foot-over bridge at Lakshmi Mills Junction, and evaluate its benefits.
