Young Indians Parliament 2.0 - a model parliament initiative organized by Young Indians (Yi) -Coimbatore at SSVM School of Excellence concluded on Saturday.

More than 150 students from 22 Schools across Coimbatore, including 30 students from Corporation Schools, participated in this two-day parliamentary simulation. Acting as Members of Parliament, students are forming political parties, representing constituencies, drafting bills, debating policies, and engaging in structured parliamentary proceedings, mirroring the real-world functioning of the Indian Parliament.

Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, took part in the event as Chief Guest of the valedictory session. Manimekalai Mohandoss, Managing Trustee, SSVM Institutions, and Mohandoss, Trustee, SSVM Institutions took part as the Guests of Honour.

During the valedictory, the students acting as parliamentarian debated about the NEP 2020 Bill. The debate saw the little parliamentarians discuss the pros and cons of the policy. A part of the discussions took place in the presence of the Minister during the valedictory.

Delivering the valedictory address, Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi first congratulated all the students who took part in the session and debated with such clarity. He explained to the gathering that when one looks at National Education Policy 2020 casually, it looks so cool and flexible, students can enter and exit the system anytime. But once a student comes out, it is not so easy to get back and adapt to it. There are many psychological issues in it.

Tamil Nadu Government is not opposing NEP 2020 for politics.
"We looked into it. It has 30+ points about school education, and we examined whether they are valuable and necessary for our students. They are not," the Minister remarked. He also recommended them to read his book 'National Education Policy 2020- A Rogue Elephant' to know more. NEP is not national education policy, it is a No Education Policy, he criticized.

He then congratulated the students for choosing to participate in this event rather than thinking about entertainments and other leisure activities. He appreciated Yi for conducting such events that instills values in them.

He also said that steps will be taken to take the best debaters of Young Indians Parliament to the Indian Parliament where they can watch the debates of the parliamentarians. He advised the students to learn more and keep themselves updated so that they can compete with the world.
