GKNM Hospital organizes Stroke Awareness Program on World Stroke Day

G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial (GKNM) Hospital, a pioneer in stroke treatment, organized a Stroke Awareness Activity to mark World Stroke Day.
The awareness event was held at the GKNM iOP Outpatient Centre, where experts from multiple specialties — Neurology, Neurosurgery, Interventional Radiology, Emergency Medicine, and Physiotherapy — interacted with the public.
The initiative aimed to educate people on recognizing stroke symptoms early, the importance of timely medical intervention (Time is Brain), available advanced treatment options, lifestyle modifications to prevent stroke, and rehabilitation services that aid recovery.
The program was led by a Stroke team of GKNM Hospital with specialists including Neurologists Dr. Parvathy and Dr. Ravichandran; Neurosurgeons Dr. Bala Senthilkumaran and Dr. Kavin Bharathi; Interventional Radiologist Dr. Rasmiranjan Padi; Emergency Medicine Consultant Dr. Sabarish Sivakumar; and Physiotherapist Dr. Mahesh Mitra, along with the nursing and support staff of GKNM Hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, the doctors emphasized that early recognition and prompt treatment are critical in minimizing brain damage and improving recovery outcomes. The event also highlighted the hospital’s commitment to community health education and its continued efforts in delivering world-class stroke care.
