As part of the Global Cybersecurity Month and the Cybersecurity Awareness Week celebrations, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC), in association with the Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Branch and the Coimbatore City Police, successfully organised a Cybersecurity Awareness Walkathon at the Race Course, Coimbatore.

The event was hoisted by M. Divya, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters), Coimbatore, and presided over by C.V. Ramkumar, CEO. A. Soundarrajan, Principal, SREC, felicitated the gathering and emphasized the institution’s continued commitment to spreading cybersecurity awareness and promoting responsible digital behaviour among students and the public.

The Walkathon, which commenced from Race Course, witnessed the participation of over 500 NSS volunteers and student members of SREC, who carried placards and slogans highlighting the importance of cyber hygiene, safe online practices, and the prevention of digital crimes. The event served as a public outreach initiative to
sensitise citizens about the threats associated with cyber fraud, phishing, and data breaches.

Inspector Azhaguraja, along with Sub-Inspectors Suganya, Priyanka , Thamaraikannan S Cyber Crime Police Division, Coimbatore City Police, from the cybercrime unit, joined the walk to interact with students and raise awareness on real-world cybercrime incidents handled by the department.

The event was jointly coordinated by P.Perumal, SBC (CSI Student Branch) and S. Harihara Gopalan, Faculty Coordinator, OWASP SREC Chapter under the guidance of the Principal and Management.
