KEnTec, short for KCIRI Envitest Technology Centre, an advanced facility to help MSMEs in Coimbatore test their products manufactured for the Defence-sector was launched at Kumaraguru College of Technology, Saravanampatti, Coimbatore on Friday by Srivats Ram, Chairman, CII TN State Council and Managing Director of Wheels India.

This testing lab and innovation centre is developed by Kumaraguru Institutions and Envitest Laborotories based in Bengaluru at a cost of Rs. 3 crore. Sources shared that the latter has provided the grants while Kumaraguru Insitutions has provided the site and other required infrastructure.

Kumaraguru Institutions said that this centre will revolutionize Defence & Automotive industries in Coimbatore. Equipped with advanced tools like Thermal Chambers, Vibration Shakers, and Heating Ovens, KEnTech sets new standards in product testing.The facility will support industries & startups in Cost savings, Faster time-to-market, Regulatory compliance and Innovation through R&D.

Located in Coimbatore, a key hub in TN’s Southern Defence Corridor, the centre will benefit industries by improving product quality. The testing centre addresses challenges faced by local industries, providing shared resources, technical expertise, and design improvements. With faster testing and reduced development cycles, this centre is positioned to strengthen Coimbatore’s industrial ecosystem.

This collaboration between KCIRI & Envitest Laborotories represents a leap forward for Tamil Nadu’s manufacturing & defence sectors. This centre will benefit more than 100 MSMEs develop products for defence sector in this region.
