After successfully organizing 4 editions of Run for Nation Marathon, VGM Multi-specialty Hospital, Coimbatore is all set to organize the next edition of this running event in the city in July in collaboration with Kovai Athletic Club.

The launch event of the Marathon was held on Saturday at VGM Hospital. Mayor of Coimbatore Corporation, Ranganayaki took part as the Chief Guest of the launch event, and made the launch of the marathon, its promo and also joined the Jersey-launch along with Dr. V.G. Mohan Prasad, Chairman of VGM Hospital, Dr. Suman, Medical Director VGM Hospital and the President of Kovai Athletic Club, Dr.Madhura Prasad Suman, Dr.Vamsi Murthy, Dr.Mitra Prasad and others.

It was announced that this year, the Marathon will be held in the month of July instead of the usual August. It will be held on 27th July, Sunday at VOC Grounds, and over 7000 participants are expected to run in 3 kms., 5 kms., and 10 kms. This year, a 1-km walk has also been added to event so that kids too can take part. This year, every Runner's Number Patch (Marathon BIBs) will have a mini-chip to track their movement and total minutes of running. The prize money has been increased to Rs.1.5 lakhs from last year's Rs.1 lakh. 

"More than 20 organizations, Institutions and Sports clubs, will be taking part in this event. Last year, more than 100 differently-abled people participated in the marathon and this year, the organizers are planning to encourage more than 150 differently-abled people who will kick-start the event to the applause of a roaring audience" said Dr. Suman.

"This marathon will focus on Sports, Education and Health universally for the betterment of all students and citizens. Also, there will be special emphasis on how to 'Save Your Knee' from arthritis and ligament injuries. This will be the prime motto of Run for Nation 2025" said, Dr. V.G. Mohan Prasad.
