Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Saravana Sundar IPS told reporters on Monday that the Department is going to install AI-based surveillance cameras at the newly opened GD Naidu Flyover to monitor motorists.
He said cases will be filed against those riders who operate their vehicles beyond the allowed speed limit on the flyover. The commissioner added that these AI powered cameras will track the speed of the vehicles from the time they enter the flyover. If found to be speeding, strict action will be taken, he warned.
The Commissioner also said that multiple efforts are being taken to reduce the traffic issues faced after the opening of the flyover in Avinashi Road. He said in a few days, the problems will come down.
He shared that many motorists travelling on the flyover were unaware of where they have to get down, as the sign boards at a few down-ramps were not aptly placed. Now we have added additional boards 50 meters ahead of the ramps. Once people start getting accustomed to the route, this issue will be completely solved, he said.
