AIADMK held a hunger strike in Coimbatore against the property tax hike, power tariff hike and few other price rise made by the DMK-led Tamil Nadu Government today under the leadership of Party's whip and Thondamuthur MLA S.P.Velumani. It was attended by interim General Secretary Edappadi K.Palaniswami. He raised a few important questions in his address.

In the 18-month rule, the DMK-led TN Govt has increased property tax by 100% and EB charges by 53%. This increase in charges could've been made once the whole public has returned to normalcy but this government has failed to do so, he said.

Prices of Cement and Iron TMT bars have gone up, making the construction of houses for the common man a challenging task. The Government assured it will cancel NEET exams but it has failed to do that, he charged. He said DMK has cast aside the Vellalore Integrated Bus Terminal Project.

He urged the government to quit giving Tea Cultivation lands to the Forest Department, and also stop acquiring farmers' land for the Industrial Parks in Annur.

He said the AIADMK gave the 7.5% quota for government school students to help them get admissions in Tamil Nadu's medical colleges, and pursue their medical education dreams, and the same is being followed by DMK regime.

What new schemes are brought by the DMK Government? he asked.

He underlined that the then AIADMK led TN Government won multiple awards and recognitions from the Centre for various pioneering and public beneficial schemes, and its good governance. It gave a golden era to Tamil Nadu, according to him.

He said similar protests will take place in various rural and urban areas in Tamil Nadu between December 9-13, 2022.
