Tourists who visit Valparai hill station in Coimbatore express desire to visit Athirappalli Falls near Chalakudi.
While visiting the falls, they park their vehicles on the side of the road. Recently this has resulted in obstruction of the path of elephants, and Polimer News reported the incident in its portal.
It reported that an elephant herd came from the forest region and was headed towards a different area. Due to a huge line-up of vehicles on the road side, the herd struggled to move past the vehicles, and stood there for sometime.
Since it is summer season, tourists are going to frequent the hill station and the water falls near it. I fthe obstruction continues, then it may become a risk for both the tuskes and tourists. Hence the Forest Department has urged tourists and visitors to the falls not to park their vehicles on the side of the road as it can disturb the movement of wild elephants.
The Department has warned that strict action will be taken against those who park on the road.
