According to the latest edition of 'State of India's Environment : In Figures' released by Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), a New Delhi-based non-governmental public interest research and advocacy organisation, Tamil Nadu is ranked 21st with regards to its care for the environment.
This ranking is provided based on the changes made in a State's forest cover, share of total municipal solid waste, total sewage that gets treated etc.
It has ranked Telangana no.1, stating that it has made good progress in the indicator ' Change in Forest Cover', and remains the top state for Municipal waste treatment.
While Telangana has scored 7.2/10 Tamil Nadu has scored 4.4/10.
