India has 23 IMAX theatres as of now, and it will add six screens this year.

The majority of Coimbatore's cinephiles are yet to experience the thrills and immersive movie-watching experience IMAX theaters could provide, and with the imminent launch of Broadway Megaaplex coming up at Avinashi Road, Coimbatore (near KMCH Medical College) this year, almost everyone in Covai can hope to taste IMAX.

According to the mall's website, the multiplex has 9 screens, and as per sources one screen is equipped with IMAX with Laser and EPIQ large format technology, which is coming up in South India for the first time.

Among everything else Broadway Multiplex has to offer, the public's interest is undoubtedly on the theater with IMAX.

For tourists from far away destinations, there is 'The Magnus', a luxury hotel said to feature 38 rooms, a banquet hall, a tropical restaurant and a Parisian bar.

It is designed by Bangkok based Paradigm Shift Studio. Broadway says that the hotel is a reflection of contemporary urban India, where lush design meets modern luxury.

For dining, the food court offers 15+dining choices. The offering includes variety of international and home-grown culinary delights.

Then there are the usual various outlets for shopping and place for games at the mall.

Preetham Daniel, VP-Sales of IMAX Corporation, India gave the first glimpses into Broadway Cinemas earlier this month.

People are expecting it to be ready before Mani Rathinam's PS-2.

As IMAX Corporation also develops immersive cinema technologies and manufactures cameras and projection systems, it is expected to partner local studios and producers and float a program to promote the use of IMAX cameras to shoot big-ticket movies.

IMAX cameras are not only for Nolan and WB Studios, right?
