Coimbatore MP honors maker of best awareness video about UTS App; winner of 1-minute video challenge recognized & rewarded

The UTS app by Indian Railways helps passengers purchase unreserved railway tickets, season tickets and platform tickets right from their mobiles. They do not necessarily have to come to the station, stand in a queue and wait for their tickets.
But not many knew about its advantages. Hence to create awareness about this useful app, the Salem Division of Southern Railways announced a ‘One-Minute Video Challenge’ in March 2025 to promote the UTS Train Ticket Booking app among train users.
It was announced that the competition is open to all, and the videos must be uploaded in the UTS app before April 30. It was conveyed that 2 videos judged the best would receive cash prizes while all participants will receive certificates.
The awareness video created by WeLuvCoimbatore, a Coimbatore-based influential Instagram page was judged the best and was honored on Monday at the Coimbatore Junction. Ganapati Rajkumar, Member of Parliament, Coimbatore took part as the chief guest and handed over the award and cash prize of Rs.10,000 to Dinesh of WeLuvCoimbatore. The cash prize was sponsored by J. Engineering, Coimbatore.

District Collector, Coimbatore; Sivaguru Prabhakaran, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner; Panna Lal, Divisional Railway Manager, Salem; Vasudevan, Sr Divisional Commercial Manager, Salem; Anith Prakash, Sr Divisional Operation Manager, Salem; J.Sathish, Director, Kongu Global Forum, and officials from Railway were present.
UTS is a very important app to those who travel in unreserved category. Sources state that in the 2023-24 Financial Year, 55.6 lakh+ passengers purchased tickets in Coimbatore in the unreserved category via counters, ticket vending machines and UTS App, generating a total revenue of Rs.61.35 crore+ only from sale of unreserved tickets in Coimbatore junction.
