First National Drivers’ Day celebrated in Coimbatore

Recognising the vital role of drivers in various forms of transport, the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU), the Bus & Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI) and All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), have jointly announced January 24 as the Drivers' Day in India.
In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) organized a bike-rally to cherish this day. The rally which began near Coimbatore Town Bus Stand was flagged off by Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar IAS. Members of TNSTC participated with other drivers. It ended near Mettupalayam Bus Stand. oimbatore Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS and Corporation Central Zone Chairperson Meena Logu joined the Collector in launching this rally.
Thangasamy, a TNSTC driver with 34 years of experience who has not caused any accident throughout his career shared that patience while operating vehicles and sense to give way to others are crucial for a safe ride.
