Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS), Coimbatore organized 'Swagatham', the college's commencement ceremony to welcome its 8th Batch of Students (2025-28) to the institution.

Shankar Vanavarayar, President, Kumaraguru Institutions presided over this event. The candidates who successfully got admitted to the institution this year attended the ceremony with their parents.

Deepesh Chandrasekaran, Principal, KCLAS welcomed the gathering, and expressed that the academic and value-based foundation that is laid today will prepare them for a life of excellence tomorrow. Vijila Edwin Kennedy, Director, Global Engagement, Kumaraguru Institutions while offering felicitation, urged the students to imagine that the world is their learning place.

Shankar Vanavarayar, while delivering the presidential address, welcomed the students to the institution. He spoke about the 42-year legacy of Kumaraguru Institutions and the vision of the founder - Arutchelvar N.Mahalingam. He shared Kumaraguru Institutions stands for great aspirations & values, and chief among them are Intellectual, Scientific, Innovative Excellence, Youth & Nation-building, Respecting Self & others, and Diversity & Inclusivity.

In his address to the students, he spoke about 5 essential mantras that will assist them to accomplish their mission here.  'Craft your College Journey'. He wanted them to take ownership of their life at college and make this a period for a phenomenal transformation.  He said the faculty will ensure that the best knowledge is given to all the students, but the ownership to take the best of it is with them. "We are the gym, we have the trainers and the equipment, the workout is yours," he said.

'Fuel Your Path'. "Your college life starts when  you decide what to accomplish and how you want to do it. It is a fantastic journey, an interesting challenge and an opportunity to find a new you," he remarked.

'Unlock your potential'.  He shared that Kumaraguru offers endless opportunities to unlock one's potential. Students can explore their strength in sports, arts, creativity, etc.  At Kumaraguru Institutions, Co-Curricular/Extra-Curricular is a core part of the journey, he said.

'Importance of Self'. Shankar wanted the students to understand that a strong body and mind are important to make this journey a success, and he urged them to have a great living ritual. He also underlined that this institution has zero-tolerance towards certain activities, and he urged the students to always choose things that will enable them to achieve their dreams and make their parents' proud. 

'Character is Life'. "Living by values is the greatest armour and greatest inner strength", he remarked. He also expressed that Arutchelvar wanted the youth to develop a fervent belief that with enough effort, nothing is impossible.
