Salem Division collects over Rs.1.95 crore through ticket checking drives during Oct.2023

Salem Division of Indian Railways collected Rs.1,95,98,539 through ticket checking drives conducted during October, 2023.
Members of Ticket Checking Squads of Salem Division conduct regular checks on board trains and in railway premises to detect various malpractices. During such checks, they detect cases of persons travelling without ticket, irregular travel, unbooked luggage, etc. and levy penalty accordingly.
During October, 2023, the ticket checking squads of Salem Division detected 15,766 cases of Ticketless Travel and collected an amount of Rs. 1,29,72,257 as penalty from the offenders. 12,560 cases of Irregular Travel were also found during October, 2023 and an amount of Rs.65,98,167 was collected as penalty from passengers. 29 cases of Unbooked Luggage/carrying luggage exceeding the permitted quantity were detected. The amount levied as penalty for these cases of unbooked luggage was Rs.28,115.
A total of 28,355 cases were booked and the total amount collected as penalty by Ticket Checking Squads of Salem Division during October, 2023 stands at Rs.1,95,98,539.
This total amount is the highest ever collected in a single month in Salem Division, since 2007.The previous highest monthly collection of Rs.1,69,37,183 was collected during October, 2022.
