As part of the Tamil Nadu–Taiwan Technical Textile Partnership Summit, the Tiruppur Exporters Association (TEA) in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) hosted a high-level interaction and B2B meetings with a visiting Taiwanese delegation. The summit focused on fostering collaborative opportunities in the growing field of technical textiles, particularly in man-made fiber (MMF) applications and advanced textile technologies.

A. Sakthivel, Honorary Chairman of TEA, welcomed the Taiwan Delegation to Tiruppur Exporters Association and he noted that Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with the UK and EU are currently in progress, while a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) with the USA is expected to significantly boost textile exports. He emphasized the importance of joint ventures between Taiwan and Tamil Nadu, stating, “If we collaborate, we can compete in the world market.”

Arun Ramasamy, Chairman of the MMF Sub Committee, TEA, highlighted the summit’s role in industry development. “This summit will help our industry grow in technical textiles. With this interaction, we can establish networks with Taiwan and improve our technical textile processes.”

G. R. Gopikumar, Convenor of the Textile Panel, CII Tamil Nadu, pointed out that CII has been actively promoting technical textiles since 2022. He noted the similarities between the industrial ecosystems of Taiwan and Tamil Nadu, which make collaboration more seamless. “Taiwan’s expertise and resources in technical textiles will significantly benefit our industry,” he said, also acknowledging the role of the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) in facilitating the initiative.

Justin Huang, President of TTF, delivered an insightful presentation on Taiwan’s leadership in technical textiles, outlining key innovations and collaborative potentials that can benefit Indian manufacturers.

Sakthi Vijayalakshmi and Mr. Ragavan, Joint Directors from the Department of Textiles, Tamil Nadu, presented ongoing government initiatives to promote technical textiles, particularly MMF fabrics and the textile printing sector, both identified as priorities for future development.

From the Guidance Bureau, Government of Tamil Nadu, Nandha Gopal, Senior Manager, shared detailed information on investment support mechanisms, policy incentives and special schemes for MMF technical textiles and apparel manufacturing, along with features of the Single Window Portal 2.0 designed to streamline approvals and enhance ease of doing business.

Mezhiselvan, Vice Chairman, Business Promotion, Branding & Sustainability Sub Committee, TEA, who appreciated the support and active participation of all stakeholders in promoting industrial growth and international cooperation.

The summit culminated in a high-impact B2B session and product showcase involving over 30 participants from Tiruppur and the Taiwan delegation, laying the foundation for future strategic partnerships and joint ventures in the technical textile space.
