Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) in Coimbatore, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing (TANCAM), successfully hosted the TNWISE 2025 Women’s Hackathon. This event provided a unique platform for aspiring women innovators from higher educational institutions across Tamil Nadu to present creative solutions in the domain of Transportation & Mobility.

The hackathon at KCT was supported by the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab of Dassault Systèmes, France, Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), and Kumaraguru College of Technology.

Over 1,200 students from more than 100 colleges across Tamil Nadu participated, forming 350 teams to tackle 11 problem statements focused on critical areas such as electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, alternative fuels, lightweight vehicle materials, affordable electric three-wheelers, last-mile delivery solutions, drone-based emergency logistics, and AI-powered smart energy solutions.

The event also featured mentoring sessions with industry experts, prototype evaluations, and networking opportunities with professionals in the field. Participants had the chance to experience a Virtual Reality (VR) setup installed at the Administrative Block Training Centre at KCT.

The winners were announced on the second day of the event, with two teams securing the first prize of Rs. 1 lakh each—Nehru Institute of Engineering and Technology and Kalaignar Karunanidhi Institute of Technology.

The second prize of Rs. 50,000 went to Kumaraguru College of Technology and Sri Eshwar College of Engineering and Technology, while the third prize of Rs. 30,000 was awarded to Vivekanandha College of Engineering for Women and Thiagarajar College of Engineering.

16 teams received special prizes of Rs. 10,000 each. In a significant announcement, 15 outstanding participants were selected for internship opportunities—10 with TANCAM and 5 with Dassault Systèmes in Pune.

The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Hiran Vedam, Wg Cdr P. Madhusoodhanan, R. Ambalavanan IA&AS, P.M. Ravikumar, and M. Karthikeyan. Participants expressed their excitement and gratitude, describing the hackathon as an empowering and transformative experience.

Manickavalli from Karaikudi Institute of Technology noted that the event provided a fantastic platform for collaboration and innovation, while Abarna from PPG Institute of Technology emphasized the invaluable exposure to industry experts and cutting-edge technologies.

Vaishnavi from Sona College of Technology spoke about the confidence she gained in pursuing leadership roles in technology, and Nithya Shri from Nehru Institute of Engineering and Technology highlighted how winning the first prize has motivated her to push the boundaries of innovation.

With over 500 solutions presented and more than 75 ideas under consideration for further development or incubation, TNWISE 2025 has set a benchmark for fostering creativity, problem-solving, and technological advancement among women in STEM. TANCAM and KCT extended their sincere gratitude to all participants, mentors, jury members, and sponsors for making the event a resounding success.
