Coimbatore City Police received 4 electric patrol cars on Friday. The cars were bought through the funding from Jos Alukkas under its CSR initiative. City Police Commissioner V.Balakrishnan who flagged off the vehicles on Friday said that the 4 vehicles cost Rs. 60 lakhs.

2 will be deployed for traffic patrolling while the other 2 will be used for crime-controlling measures. The cars, Mahindra XUV, have a range of 250 km.The vehicles allotted for traffic patrol will be deployed in Eastern part of the city (including Avinashi Road and Trichy Road) and Western side.
