Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, a multi-specialty hospital headquartered in Coimbatore, has been consistently and successfully raising awareness about the importance of organ donation among the public through various initiatives each year.
Tamil Nadu is a leading state in the country when it comes to organ donation. Setting an example for the people of the state, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and his wife, Durga Stalin, registered to be organ donors in 2009 when he was the Deputy Chief Minister.
Under his leadership, the Tamil Nadu government, in September 2023 announced that state honors would be given to individuals who donate their organs after being declared brain dead. As a result of this initiative, many families of individuals who are brain dead due to unforeseen accidents are now coming forward to donate the organs of their deceased loved ones.
In line with this, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital in Coimbatore undertook a massive national effort this year to encourage people to voluntarily register for organ donation. The initiative was inaugurated by the Tamil Nadu Health Minister, Ma. Subramanian. Through this program, the hospital collected 45,861 organ donation pledges from February to April 2025 from people across the country.
In recognition of Sri Ramakrishna Hospital's continued commitment to social responsibility, Chief Minister. M.K. Stalin expressed his congratulations to R. Sundar, Managing Trustee of the SNR Charitable Trust.
