TNAU wins ICAR’s Sardar Patel Outstanding University Award

Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) has conferred Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) for 2021 based on its outstanding performance in teaching, research and extension activities.
ICAR is the apex body for coordinating, guiding and managing research and education in agriculture, horticulture, fisheries and animal sciences in India.
TNAU students have outperformed other State Agricultural Universities (SAU) by securing 374 national-level fellowships during the assessment period.
TNAU remained at the top among the 71 Central Agricultural universities and SAUs in attracting students for higher education and in research. It has released 74 improved crop varieties and published around 2,000 SCOPUS index
scientific papers.
TNAU excelled in its outreach activities even during the pandemic period by delivering technologies to about 6 lakh farmers and all these efforts have enabled TNAU to climb up in the ICAR ranking ladder and all in aggregation empowered TNAU to clinch this prestigious award of ICAR, a varsity release said on Thursday.
