In spite of the State and Central Governments' continuous digital awareness efforts, 2670 persons in Coimbatore city have lost money to cyber-scams in the last 4.5 months, losing Rs. 23.91 crore+, according to a recent report.

Besides this, 841 persons from the city have become victims to non-financial online crimes like data theft, image morphing etc. Based on complaints, the police have arrested 31 persons so far. Totally 3511 persons in Coimbatore city have become victims of cyber-crime in the last 4.5 months this year. Victims of these crimes include learned individuals, bank staff and even IT-employees.
